Kelly is a co-founder of CrossFit 813 and a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer. In June of 2008 she was introduced to CrossFit. ”The first workout was brutal but I left feeling a huge sense of accomplishment.” As her CrossFit knowledge and experience grew she CrossFit trained at her “globo gym” until she joined an affiliate in January 2009. “CrossFit changed my life. It forces me to do things mentally and physically I never thought possible. I have never felt stronger more confident more driven and healthier in my life. I hope my coaching helps others exceed their goals and live a more rewarding life.”

Kelly was raised in Mobile, AL and grew-up and attended high school in Peachtree City, GA. She is a graduate of the Auburn University Business School.

Jon is a co-founder of CrossFit 813 and a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer. He enjoys coaching people to live a healthier and stronger life. His passion for athletics has led him to coach in youth junior football leagues. He has been a CrossFit addict since January 2009. “My first WOD was done in the back corner of my “globo gym” and I was completely crushed. I haven’t been able to get enough ever since.” Since his introduction he has honed his CF skills and earned his CrossFit Level 1 certification in February 2010.

Jon is a Tampa native and graduate of the University of Florida’s Rinker School of Building Construction. He is a high school letterman in football wrestling track and weight lifting.

Thomas Fluharty – Owner/Coach

Thomas started CrossFit in April 2008 stumbling upon the CrossFit community while surfing the web for something to crave his training goals. He was dedicated to the body split training (bi/tri, legs only, shoulders/chest, back only etc.), but after three CF WODs “it was clear how unfit I was”. From then he educated himself, trained his wife Kelly, and introduced his close friend Jon to this exciting lifestyle. He joined a local affiliate fulltime in January 09 and hasn’t looked back.

“I love the look on an athletes face when he/she executes a perfect lift or performs five consecutive pullups for the first time. You can’t replicate that sense of accomplishment and pride somewhere else.” He enjoys motivating others and producing results. “You can’t manage what you can’t measure. Show up, see our family, join our family, and be awesome!”

Thomas is from Tampa and holds an undergraduate degree from Auburn University and an MBA from University of Tampa.

Genevieve King – Owner/Coach

Gen was introduced to CrossFit in 2009 while preparing for her collegiate golf career. “My workouts as a member of the Florida State University Women’s Golf team felt simple because of the intensity I had experienced in the CrossFit world. I felt if I could complete a CrossFit workout, anything was possible. I never knew what a good, ass-kicking workout was until I was exposed to CrossFit. I am extremely competitive, and I was hooked immediately.”

“My goal is to elevate the world from mediocrity to greatness and being a CrossFit Trainer makes me feel like I am fulfilling that every day.”

Gen is from Tampa, FL and studied at the University of South Florida. She lives with her husband Jon and their pups Kash and Gus.

Tori Puryear – Coach

Tori started CrossFit in March 2013. She participated in softball and soccer throughout high school but began running competitively around her senior year. In college she ran cross country and threw javelin and discus for the track team at Transylvania University in KY. There she earned her degree in Exercise Science & Spanish as well as her AFAA personal trainer certification and group fitness certification. After a few years of teaching group fitness and personal training one of her clients invited her to “bring a friend day” at CrossFit Maximus where they did a tabata-style workout. Soon after that she moved to Texas, joined a CrossFit box, and earned her Level 1 to become a coach. “CrossFit is more than just fitness; it’s a community of motivated people who want to see each other succeed in training, work, and life. As a trainer, I get to see people accomplish things they never thought they could do on a daily basis.”

Tori is originally from Paducah, KY.

Daniel Baugh “DB” – Coach

Daniel started CrossFit in December of 2011. Since then he has yet to look back at his “globo gym” days. Daniel was a collegiate baseball player at Southwest Tennessee Community College and the University of Memphis, however, when he hung up his spikes he need something to fill the competitive void. CrossFit was a natural fit. When he moved to Tampa, his wife bought him his first membership as a Christmas gift, and to this day has been one of the greatest gifts he has ever received.

“CrossFit provides a community unlike any other, an amazing team of individuals, which is an honor to workout with every day, and motivation that was missing from my workouts in the past. CrossFit allows me push through the barriers of what is possible and increase that threshold of possibilities.”

Daniel is from Memphis, Tennessee and holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Memphis and an MED from St. Thomas University. Daniel currently resides in Tampa with his wife Michelle, Dachshund – Joey, Australian Kelpie –Khaleesi, where he is an assistant principal.

Ryan Cox – Coach

Ryan was introduced to CrossFit in October 2013. After Swimming in college at the University of Louisville ended, he spent a year in a traditional gym. Tired of the same day to day routine he wanted something different. That’s when a friend of his told him about CrossFit. He tried out one class and was hooked immediately. Within six months he earned his level 1 to become a coach and has coached ever since. “I love the community CrossFit has. It is a group of like minded individuals who care about each other. As a coach I love seeing the growth of athletes physically and mentally. The self confidence I have seen athletes gain from CrossFit is amazing!”

Neal Herman- Coach

Neal was introduced to CrossFit in the Fall of 2006 by his U.S. Marine Corps Infantry Officer Course class adviser and mentor Todd Widman (now CrossFit HQ). He was quickly hooked on the programming and nutrition and became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer in January 2010. “CrossFit brings much more to the table than tough realistic physical fitness. It breeds a sense of toughness, humility, and community that leads to performance gains in all facets of life.”

Neal is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy (B.S. in quantitative economics) and was commissioned in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2006. Neal now lives happily in Tampa with his wife, Nicole, and works in the real estate industry.
